The strapsshould be an inch and aquarter wide, good thickleather, and the bucklesshould be heavy. Now havemade two Ds, just twice aslong as the straps are D should have thestraight part a little round-ing, and the corners notquite to a sharp point. Put a long and short strap on each D, and buckle them aroundthe hind legs of the horse; the long strap above and theshort one below the gambrel, bringing the D in front of theleg. These we designate kicking straps.
