But on the walls of the apse below,partly exposed but so damaged by having beenchopped to aflbrd a key for the later plastering 400 Aqiiileja: the Diiomo. [Ch. xxxv. as to be unintelligible, may be seen traces of Gothicpainting, and an inscription in Lombardic the centre is a good picture by Pellegrino diSan Daniele in its original carved and gilt the centre of the east end is the patriarchs.
