Modern wattle and daub structure. Wattle and daub is a building technique which has been used since neolithic times. It is a method of wall construction which involves the creation of a woven latticework of wooden stakes called wattles. These are then covered in daub - a mixture of mud, clay, animal dung and straw - which is left to bake hard in the sun. It is a method which has been superceded but is occasionally resurrected in creating replica traditional buildings. Photographed in Estonia.
