Acclaimed film director Martin Scorsese waits to speak at a news conference on November 25, 2003 announcing the involvement of the American Express Company in raising money to make critical safety and security improvements to the Statue of Liberty to enable it to be reopened to the public. The company has commissioned Scorsese to produce and narrate a film on the Statue to be shown on cable television. American Express is also donating one cent for every card purchase from Dec. 03 to Jan. 04 and those who donate $100 or more will receive a DVD of Scorsese's documentary. (© Richard B. Levine)
