Red-breasted Goose (Branta ruficollis). Plumage of an immature, juvenile, first winter bird. Note white edging to tips of wing-covert feathers. Broad, white flank-stripe above breast is best field mark to note, and along with rapid speed of grazing head movements, helps to identify birds of any age, particularly when individuals are caught up with flocks of other goose species.
