By- having the rows fairly close together and the plants quite near to each other about 2 inches in height. There was an average increase of tons per acre when the roots were thinned at a height of 2 inches as compared with those which were thinned at a height of 8 inches. Numerous other experiments with field roots have been conducted at the college, but as the results are of in- terest iTiore particularly to those who are engaged in practical agriculture than to those connected with the seed trade, their presentation is omitted from this paper.
