UK Prime Minister David Cameron fears being kept on Rathlin Island Photo of Rathlin Island which was referred to by the Prime Minister during todays Prime Ministers Questions

Rathlin Island, Ballycastle, Co Antrim, UK, 27 January 2016 During Prime Minister's Questions today Ian Paisley Jnr, the MP for the North Antrim constituency in which Rathlin Island lies, asked the Prime Minister Mr David Cameron if he had any plans to visit the island. " Rathlin Island is the only inhabited coastal village/town in my constituency. No British Prime Minister has ever had the honour to visit that part of Ulster. I wonder when the Prime Minister plans to visit this remote location, which has considerable economic needs and could generate more employment and tourism." The Prime Minister jokingly responded "I'm the first British Prime Minister to visit many parts of our country, the first to go to Shetland for about 30 years. But I fear if I went to this island there might be a number of people who'd like me to stay there, but I'll certainly bear it in mind the next time I visit the province." Rathlin Island is situated on the north east coast of Northern Ireland and is its only inhabited offshore island with a population of around 125. The image shows the harbour and main residential area of the island along with one of its three lighthouses
