The Kokoda Trail is the home of iconic battles in WWII where Australian and Papua New Guinean forces fought the Japanese Empire to protect Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. The service members took days during exercise Puk Puk 15 to hike part of the Kokoda Trail to pay remembrance to their fallen brothers. The Marines are with Bravo Company, 9th Engineer Support Battalion, III Marine Expeditionary Force. The Australian soldiers are with 3rd Combat Engineer Regiment, Royal Australian Army.
