Varroatosis. Diseased adult honeybee (Apis mellifera) emerging from a brood cell. The bee has a varroa mite (Varroa destructor) on its head. This parasitic mite feeds on honeybee adults and brood and is the cause of varroatosis, a disease which causes the adult bee to emerge deformed.
