T-shirts for sale under the famous clock tower in the Sardar Bazaar in the centre of the Rajasthani city of Jodhpur, India. Still run by the Maharajah of Jodhpur it is a captivating place dominated by the Maherangarh fort perched on a 125m high hill above the old city. Once known as Marwar, or the Land of Death, the Blue City is now a vibrant , colourful travellers destination dominated by the 16th century fort. Founded in 1459 by Rao Jodha, a Rajput chieftan, the city grew out of trading profits in sandalwood, dates and copper. Now a chaotic jumble of lanes and open sewers with cattle roaming freely it is a shoppers paradise of brass , furniture, jewellery and spices.
