This subspecies differs from typical form by hav-ing a larger, denser, and widely spreading panicles. Observations.—The outstanding characterof larger panicles and the isolated geographicalposition in the northern Andes (Sierra Nevada deSanta Marta, Serranna de Perija), were the primaryreasons for recognizing this subspecies.
