Fireman Christopher Jenkins, an engineer on the USCGC Polar Star (WAGB-10), talks with local reporters aboard the ship while at the pier in Pearl Harbor Dec. 12, 2016. Jenkins is a Kailua, Hawaii, native and is happy to be visiting family while on a port call en route to Antarctica. The Polar Star is one of the most powerful icebreakers in the world and is critical to our nation’s continued national security and research in Antarctica and Arctic regions.
