The Calvatone Victory sculpture on display in Hemitage Museum, St Petersburg, Russia. It is from Antikensammlung (Collection of Classical Antiquities) in Berlin was kept until 1939 in the Altes Museum on the German capital’s Museum Island. It was lost during the Second World War and rediscovered during scholarly researches in Russia. The inscription on the ball reads VICTORIAE AUG / ANTONINI ET VERI / MARCUS SATRIUS MAIOR, signifying the victory of Marc Aurelius over Barbarians.
