Some of the offices which werepreferved from the flames have been elegantly fitted up, and are ufedas an occafional retirement by Lord Spencers family. The fituationis fingularly eligible, having a beautiful home profpe£t of the park,with a fine piece of water towards the north, and an cxtenfiveview over the county of Surrey on the fouth. The park, which contains about 1,200 acres, exhibits a beautifulvariety of furface, and was planted and laid out with much tafte byBrown. Vol, V. p. 21, 22. John.
