Heruli and Briton warriors.
"The Heruli, also descended from the Goths, came from the north, established themselves to the west of the Danube, and founded an empire that was, like the Gepides, destroyed by the Lombards." "One notices that the clothes of the Heruli (7) were common to many other barbarian peoples, but this contrasts greatly with the workmanship seen in the helmet and the sword hilt." "Fig. 8 shows a Briton taken from Speed, A Collection of the Dresses of Different Nations, 1772. Under Agricola, the Britons took the manners and customs of the Romans, and dressed in the manner of that nation." Handcolored copperplate engraving from Robert von Spalart's "Historical Picture of the Costumes of the Principal People of Antiquity and of the Middle Ages" (1796).
