LONDON, United Kingdom — A close-up view of the label on a bottle of Beefeater Gin, featuring the iconic image of a Yeoman Warder, commonly known as a Beefeater. This London dry gin, distilled in the heart of the city since 1863, showcases its British heritage through its branding and connection to the historic Tower of London guards.

Photograph by David Coleman. Beefeater Gin, one of the world's most recognized gin brands, has been distilled in London since its creation by James Burrough in 1863. The label captured in this close-up shot is a key element of the brand's identity, featuring the distinctive image of a Yeoman Warder, popularly known as a Beefeater. The Yeoman Warders, ceremonial guardians of the Tower of London, have been part of British history since the 15th century. Their nickname "Beefeaters" is believed to come from their position as guards in the Tower, where they could eat as much beef as they wanted from the king's table. This connection to British heritage and tradition is central to Beefeater Gin's brand identity. The label typically features a Beefeater in his iconic red and gold state dress uniform, complete with the distinctive black hat. This image is not just a marketing tool, but a symbol of London's history and the gin's deep roots in the city. The use of red, a color associated with British iconography, further emphasizes the brand's national identity. Beefeater Gin is classified as a London Dry Gin, a style that requires the gin to be distilled to a completely neutral spirit of 96% ABV, then redistilled with juniper berries and other botanicals. Beefeater's recipe, which has remained unchanged since the 1860s, includes nine botanicals: juniper, coriander seeds, liquorice root, almonds, angelica root and seeds, Seville oranges, lemon peel, and orris root. The brand has maintained its connection to London throughout its history. Even as many other "London" gins moved production elsewhere, Beefeater continued to be distilled in the heart of the city, currently at its Kennington distillery. This commitment to its London heritage is a key part of the brand's appeal and authenticity. Today, Beefeater is owned by Pernod Ricard and is exported to more than 100 countries, serving as an ambassador for London and British culture worldwide. The iconic label, with its Beefeater
