The illustra-tions show two installations. In one case a 3 to 1 variable. Apptication of Motors to the Arm and at the Top of the Column speed motor is shown mounted on a bracket attached to thearm of the machine and on the opposite side of the motor is geared directly to the arm shaft. The con-troller is mounted on the head of the machine. A constantspeed reversing compound wound motor mounted on top ofthe column is used for elevating or lowering the arm. This
