Orchids.—We have much pleasure in givingpublicity to the following letter, dated May 29,1889 :— The Director of the Royal Gardens, Kew,is willing to assist cultivators of Orchids in namingtheir plants in cases where difficulty arises in theircorrect nomenclature. These may beaddressed either to tlte Director, or to the Keeper ofthe Herbarium, and should be marked with the words Orchids outside. It is particularly requestedthat specimens should not be addressed to individualmembers of the start*. The specimens should be ascomplete as possible, and should always comprise asmuch of the inflorescence as can be spared con-veniently, as well as a leaf. They be packedwith damp paper, but cotton wool should not beused.
