Galle Crater, Mars, coloured digital terrain model (DTM). DTM, also known as a digital elevation model, offers 3-D representation of a terrain's surface. The map is coloured according to height from the lowest to highest: dark blue, green, yellow, red and white. Galle Crater is popular due to its resemblance to a smiling face (see C004/8522). The image here shows extensive layering on the crater floor. Data was acquired by the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) camera on NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO).
