Young Female Southern Hawker Dragonfly, Aeshna cycnea, Aeshnidae. The southern hawker or blue hawker (Aeshna cyanea) is a species of hawker dragonfly. The species is one of the most common and most widespread dragonflies in Europe. It hunts well away from water and may be found hawking woodland rides well into the evening. The light coloured pterostigma (wing spots) indicates this specimen is young, probably newly hatched.
