The accident at the Stuttgart plant occurred on November8th, 1920. The engineer, who was standing near the boiler roomdoor, said he thought he noticed the engine speeding up and hestarted for the throttle to close it but before he reached the valvethe flywheel burst. The flying parts of the rim and spokes wentthrough the roof, which was completely demolished, and most ofthem landed on the ground outside.
