A Saxon miner's axe,dated 1702. Openwork,iron blade. The blade point has bone decoration. Walnut helve with richly engraved and blackened bone inlays and dated "1702". The back of the helve bears a crucifix,holy and mining scenes are depicted on the sides. The end of the helve is bone with the Saxon Electoral coat of arms and crossed miner's hammers.
