Farming Herdwick Sheep, Langdale Valley Farm, Lake District, c1960. Huge numbers of sheep are reared on the hill farms and moorlands of Cumbria, principally for their meat (lamb and mutton), milk and wool. They also yield sheepskin and parchment. The Herdwick is a breed of domestic sheep native to the Lake District of Cumbria.
