Gray WHEN Horace Fletcher was giv-ing a course of lectures atElbert Hubbards in EastAurora, he was accompanied by a stu-dent, Mr. Granger, who told what Flet-cherizing had done for him and illustra-ted his talk by doing the deep knee-bend-ing exercise. It was remarkable withwhat ease he did it. One of the testsof endurance used in gymnasiums, saidhe, is that called the deep knee-bendingexercise, which consists in loweringthe body until it almost rests on theheels and then rising to full height. Iunderwent this test at Battle Creekand was able to do it almost 3000times in succession, but I was soreafterwards. Then I heard of Fletcher-izing and adopted it. At first, it tookme about three hours a day to eatmy meals, but in a week or ten daysI had gained facility so that I couldget through eating in the time thatothers do, and I found I was eatingonly one
