Generally, too, the loop is a narrow one, with a straight axis, but occasionally one may be met with that has a definite bend in the axis, making the loop into a hook, as in the Negro boy in Fig. 23. In one case I have found this bending of the loop so extreme that the core assumes almost the appearance of a whorl (Fig. 24).
