Glowing embers inside a garden chimenea

A domestic chimenea in a garden with glowing embers. These ornaments have become very popular in domestic or backyard settings as a way of providing heat in the garden. They are usually made of clay but cast iron chimeneas are also available. They are very easy to use and require only paper to start the fire and a few sticks to provide a considerable amount of heat. Clay or terra cotta chimeneas can be fragile if knocked over or subject to the rapid cooling effects of a sudden downpour. Quite often fragrant woods are burned in the ovens as a way of repelling troublesome insects.
