The Tumulus of Koninksem, a Gallo-Roman burial mound from the 1st-3rd century AD) in Tongeren, Belgium


The tumulus of Koninksem at the Romeinse Kassei is a Gallo-Roman burial mound in Koninksem in the Belgian municipality of Tongeren. It is located directly at the Romeinse Kassi, an old Roman road, currently the N69 that runs from Tongeren to Oerle. The tumulus was already investigated in 1747 by order of Louis XV. The hill was partially excavated around 1850. It is now enclosed between houses. The tumulus dates from the period between the 1st and 3rd century AD.
