An excited audience wait for a show to start in the newly opened Alexandra Palace Theatre. A presenter introduces the performers. The auditorium was recently refurbished after a £27m restoration which recovered the theatre after it was unused for 80 years. The theatre is just a small part of Alexandra Palace which was built in 1873 and is owned by Haringey Council through a charitable trust. The theatre first opened in December 1873.
