Re: An international appeal has been launched to try to identify a four-year-old girl found in a Greek gipsy camp. The blonde-haired, blue-eyed girl was found by police during a routine raid on illegal activities in Roma camps across the country. The couple she was living with – to whom she bore no resemblance – have been charged with abducting a minor. There was speculation last night that the girl could be a missing child, in a case similar to that of Madeleine McCann who disappeared while on holiday in Portugal six years ago. The child, named Maria, was found 'safe and well' on Wednesday near Farsala in central Greece during a routine search of the camp by police looking for drugs and weapons. The girl, who can only speak Roma, sparked one of the officer's curiosity as she is pale skinned and bore no resemblance to the other children or the couple who claimed to be her parents. A 39-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman have been arrested and charged with abducting a minor.
