Light micrograph of the brine shrimp Artemia salina. This species is commonly found in saline waters such as salty lakes and salt pans and it tolerates the high salinities by having a cuticle impervious to salt. Salt however continues to enter the shrimp in its food but this is excreted through the appendages on the first ten pairs of legs. Magnification: x18 (35mm size).
