The big Buddha of Kamakura. The Buddhist sculpture and especially the Daibutsu, the Great Buddha, is one of the most popular motifs of Japanese travel photography. Already the size of the statue must have impressed the traveler from the West: meters measures the bronze sculpture, which can be made the then ruler Hojo Yasutoki in the 13th century for the 50 kilometer south of Tokyo Kamakura.
