Osiander was Professor of Theology at Konigsberg and was responsible for seeing through the press Nicolas Copernicus (1473-1543) 'De revolutionibus orbium coelestium' ('On the Revolutions of the Heavenly Spheres') and in 1543 was able to present the author with a copy on his deathbed .
