Sank gradually, and died at 845 LECTURE II. 91 Treatment.—Piilv. ipecac, sod. bicarb., bismuth., aa gr. die. Anodjoie enema bis die. Equal parts of iodineand belladonna liniment rubbed over thickened bowel; hotfomentations over abdomen. The ipecacuanha was replacedby Dovers powder after a day or two ; then acetate of leadgr. v., opii gr. j., in pil.; lastl}^, diffusible stimulants. Post-viorton Examination (August 17th, 1880 ; twelve homsafter death).—Body emaciated; rigor mortis slight. Brain-substance pale, anaemic, much softened. Lungs: Anteriorportions pale and anaemic; but the margins and bases darkand congested; the lower lobes oedematous.
