After sand roses are uncovered in the desert, they are brought up and cleaned off with a garden hoses to clean out all the excess dust, dirty, and critters. Digging for Sand Roses in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia was a popular pasttime for expatriates in the country. It took some training and some luck for find the beautiful sand formations. Those lucky enough to find them would proudly display them, and sometimes spray paint them trendy colors, for home and garden decor as well as the sourvenir of a fun adventure.
