Thesoil in the E. part is rather is mostly a strong deepsoil, red or dark loam, hut is good for grass and grain. InMason village, on the Souhegan,are cotton and w^oolen manufacto-ries, and other machinery. Masonwas granted by charter, Aug. 26,ITOS. It was formerly known bythe name of J\o. 1.
