The machine room contains two motor-generatorsets, one of which serves as a spare, and an automaticreversible battery booster. The motor of the motor-generators is of the induction type and is directlycoupled to a 1200-volt commutating-pole generatorof 140-kw output at 900 Each set has threering-lubricated bearings, the coupling between themotor and generator being rigid.
