Nicolas Remene / Le Pictorium - Chan Chan archaeological site in the province of Trujillo, Peru - 11/10/2018 - Peru / La Libertad / Chan Chan - Huanchaco - Trujillo - Workers make adobe bricks for the conservation and restoration of the archaeological site of Chan Chan in the province of Trujillo in Peru, October 11, 2018. Chan Chan, built around 850, was the largest pre-Columbian city in South America and the second largest adobe city in the world (about 20 km2). The city, which is located in an arid part of the northern Peruvian coastline, is now threatened by erosion due to heavy rains, floods and winds, accentuated by the periodic El Nino phenomenon and climate change. Chan Chan has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 28 November 1986.
