WILLIAM THOMAS WILSON, Lawyer, wasborn in Logansport, Indiana, January 4,1854, son of Thomas Hopkins and Mary I. A. (Dexter) Wilson. On the paternal side his ancestorswere English who came to this country and settledon the eastern shore of Maryland, in Caroline father, Thomas Hopkins Wilson, removed toLogansport, Indiana, in 1837, where he lived arespected and influential merchant for forty years,dying in 1877. His mothers ancestors came toAmerica with Roger Williams and resided for manyyears in Rhode Island. The subject of this sketchreceived his elementary education in the commonschools of Indiana, was prepared for College in theLogansport Presbyterian Academy and graduated. W. T. WILSON from the College of New Jersey in the Class of1874. He began the study of law in 1875 in theoffice of Daniel D. Pratt, and was admitted to theBar of Cass county, Indiana, in 1876. He is stillactively engaged in the practice of his profession inhis native place. He was made a Director of theLogansport National Bank in 1877, and has beenDirector and Vice-President of its successor, theFirst National Bank of Logansport, since 1883. Hehas always been a Republican, and while active inpolitics, has never sought office, and except a singleterm in the City Council of Logansport, has had nopublic duties. He was a member, while in College,of the American Whig Society and the PhiladelphianSociety, and is now a member of the Pottowattomie UNIVERSITIES AND THEIR SONS 47 and Tuesday Night Clubs and other s
