Large group of women working together stenciling on plain bark cloth to make a large traditional printed cloth called tapa. Fiji

Printed cloth is being made in a Tongan style known as gatu vakatoga from masi (plain bark cloth) Ten women at a time were working on the cloth to be taken to a Lau meeting in Suva later in the year. The women were sticking together pieces of masi,(spare pieces being handed out by the women standing) then the pattern was being painted on the underside of the cloth, so not easy to see clearly.
