With these antecendents it is little mat-ter of surprise that Mr. Perkins has achieved the successwhich has crowned all his efforts. True to the educational instincts that have distinguishedthe people of Ohio, since the first advent into the GreatWest of the clever Yankees, young Perkins was sent offto school at an early age and entered his preparatorycourse of study at South Williston, Mass. After thethorough foundation which was here laid, Mr. Perkinsentered Old Williams and was graduated in 1877, ^^ theage of 23. After graduation his first attention to business was theimprovement of his city realt\-, and, on the completion ofthis not very easy task, his interests turned towards man-ufacturing. With the inception of the Walker Manufacturing Com-pany, Mr. Perkins was chosen a director, and in 1S85 waselected president, which important office he has held con- tinu()usl\- to date.
