REPAIR SHOPSThe repair shops are located in abrick building adjoining the powerhouse. The greater portion of the building is taken upby three repair tracks without pits. One of these, how-ever, is elevated on a trestle 5 ft. above the ground,to give the advantage of a pit. A brick addition westof the tracks contains machine tools, while the black-. The one high-tension line leav-ing the station consists of three No. 4 copper wires ar-ranged flat on one cross-arm. It continues to Dow, about12 miles east, where a portable sub-station installed in abox car is located. The car is equipped with two trans-formers in one end, a 300-kw rotary converter in the other,and a switchboard in the open space in the center. OVERHEAD CONSTRUCTIONOutside the city limits the single No. 000 trolley wire issupported on brackets. The poles carrying high-tension smith shop is in a detached building in the rear. Theequipment of machine tools consists of a loo-ton wheelpress, 48-in. boring mill, an engine lathe with an 8-ft. bed,and a 14-in. swing, a drill press and an emery grinder. WAY STATIONSStations of a substantial character are located at all ofthe towns. These buildings are usually constructed with thefreight room floor elevated
