Portland Marina was enlarged in 2011, in order to provide berthing for yachts during the 2012 Olympics, when the Olympic sailing competitions took place in Weymouth Bay. An Olympic village, called Officers' Field, was built nearby and houses were later sold to private buyers, when the Olympics was over.
