Bukhara is the home to a large number of shops and bazaars that cater to the tourist market. Carpets, pottery, and textiles--new and old--are on offer all over the center of the old city. Soviet souvenirs and new crafts are also available. Stalls and open doors invite visitors in, as they have since the era of the Silk Road travelers.
