Hornsilver telephone company


Gold Pont. Known originally as Lime Point, settled 1880 then abandoned 1908, a silver strike and flourished for a year growing to 800 resident with at least 11 saloons, post office, telephone service and a newspaper. Most closed down following year. A few more small booms and busts. In 1932 renamed Gold Point. Harry DeVotie and Harry Willey from here served In Nevada state senate. Ora Mae, wife of Harry Wiley, served as postmistress 1942-1967. 1979 the town stabilization initiated by Herb Robbins. Now has a few hardy residents.
