Dermoids of the scrotum and labium.—There aremany good reasons for believing that the majority ofdermoids reported as arising in the testicle were really scrotalin origin. This was clearly the case in a specimen describedby Bilton Pollard as a dermoid of the testicle. The dermoidwas situated on the left side of the scrotum, betAveen the 446 DERMOIDS testicles, and adhered to the back of the left one outside thetunica vaginalis. It contained puttj^-like material in Avhichthere were a few grey hairs. The cyst was lined with stratifiedepithelium ; papillse and sebaceous glands were detected. Dermoids have been described in relation with the inguinalcanal. The only record which can be relied on is that by H. Fig. 224.—Dermoid situated over the junction of the manubrium and gladiolus ofthe sternum ; there was also a dermoid near the left cornu of the hyoid youth was 19 years of age. {After Bramann.) Paterson : he removed a cyst of this kind from the inguinalcanal of a man 35 years of age. The microscopic examinationin this case was very thorough. Dermoids of the labium are very rare : on one occasion Isaw one removed as big as an orange from the right labium ofa woman 40 years of age. It contained the usual pultaceousmaterial and shed hair. The dermoid had burrowed beneaththe deep fascia of the thigh and come into relation Avith thetendon of the adductor lonsfus muscle.
