Blue sky white clouds view, to apartments, 'The Struggle' sculpture, Warsaw Uprising Ghetto Fighters Monument, Zamenhofa Street

The Monument to the Warsaw Ghetto Fighters was unveiled in the ruins of the ghetto on April 19th 1948, the 5th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. On the west side of the monument there is the sculpture, The Struggle', symbolising the fighting Ghetto insurgents (seen here). A bas-relief, 'The Road towards Extermination', occupies the east side of the monument. The monument's facing stone of Swedish labradorite was originally ordered by the Nazis for a monument to the Victory of the Third Reich. Under 'The Struggle' sculpture there is the Polish, Yiddish, Hebrew inscription: 'The fighters and martyrs of the Jewish Nation'.
