They are songs which can be sung only by those who purchase the right to sing them. O'deni'gtin, who sang all the songs in this group, is said to be "one of the most powerful medicine-men on the White Earth ; (See fig. 7, p. 100.) The word "medicine" as here used refers to any substance by means of which results are supposed to be mysteriously attained.
