Soviet poster commemorating Yuri Gagarin. Soviet poster commemorating the first manned spaceflight by Yuri Gagarin on 12th April 1961. Gagarin's flight lasted 108 minutes, and he made one complete revolution round the Earth in the Vostok 1 spacecraft, landing safely only six miles from the calculated point. Gagarin was killed while testing an aircraft on 27th March 1968.
