Dolansky, of Lynn, is cutting good flowers of Oncidium Rogersii, Odontoglossum grande and Cattleya labiata. He is sending in nice Ophelia and Killarney roses. Everything points to a splendid veg- etable show under the auspices of the Gardeners' and Florists' Club at Hor- ticultural hall October 9. Competition is open to anyone and several special prizes have been received during the last few days. At the evening meet- ing short talks on vegetables will be giv^n by James Donald, A. K. Rogers, Frederick Cave, W. N. Craig and James MtfHiven. Flowers, as well as vege- tables, will be shown numerously. At the establishment of R. & J, Farquhar & Co. large consignments of Dutch bulbs arrived last week and the staff is busy putting up large orders. Some of the local bulb specialists re- ceived" part of their bulb orders this week and as a result are feeling some- what more cheerful. In the obituary column will be found a short sketch of the late "William Har- vey, of Needham Heights, well and favorably known to many in the trade. H. R. Comley always has some new, rare or unique flowers in his window on Park street. September 2^ he effec- tively used a collection of vegetables from his own garden, and the passers- by were pleased with it.
