The screwdriver is used for driving in screws,and is made of hard steel. At the end it is bev-elled to a thick point, which varies from /^-inchto yVi^ch in thickness, depending on the size ofthe screw for which it is to be used. The bevelled edges should be parallel, and thepoint should be as little as possible like a wedgein shape, but should lie flat in the slit of the nail* full size, seen otherwise it will have a tendency to slip and from the side. i3ecome Hand-vice, h Fig. drivei. TOOLS. 115 E. The Grinding and Sharpening of Tools. Work must never be done with hlunt or hadly-set inust always he kept sharp and in good order. These rules should always be kept in mind. Many aslojder toils in the sweat of his brow with a blunt saw, or abadly set blunt plane, rather than take time to put his toolin order, though tools in good condition save hours of work,much unnecessary trouble, and needless vexation. Blunttools demand more strength and exertion than sharp ones,and seldom, if ever, produce such good results. The rulesgiven above are especially important in the case of children,for whom work ought not to be made unnecessarily sharpening of edge-tools is performed on the grind-stone and the oilstone. The method of sharpening a saw hasalready been described (pp. 80, 81). The ordinary Grindstone consists of a circular slab ofsandstone, which rotates on an axle, and is provided with
